The Cottage
Our cottage is located in Camp Cleghorn on Columbia Lake, part of the Chain O Lakes in Waupaca, Wisconsin. It has a spectacular all-glass view of Columbia Lake from the living room. You can also enjoy the same view from the Lake-side deck on a 5-foot gliding rocker or single-person spring rocker. The charcoal grill is next to the deck for a relaxing supper. The 16 by 16 foot Sun-deck looks across to a scenic 20-acre wooded area. If you’re lucky, you might see one of the foxes that make a home underneath the Tabernacle next to the "lost lake" woods.
The cottage is about 1200 sq. feet on the main level with 2 bedrooms (king bed in each) and bath on the main floor. It features an airy open-design kitchen, dining area, and living room with an all-glass west side. If the night gets chilly, turn on the vented gas fireplace and watch TV. Cable TV is included so you don’t miss your favorite summer rerun.
The cottage also features High Speed Internet access. Use the computer provided or plug-in your laptop to the available Ethernet and wireless connections. Mornings are bright and cheerful as the large skylight over the kitchen and 4 eastern facing ridge windows let copious amounts of light into the common area.
The finished full basement (another 1000 sq. feet) offers a full bath and two additional bedrooms. One bedroom has a twin and queen bed and the other has a twin and double bed. The four bedrooms allow 8 or more guests to sleep with ease. A second TV is in the basement for the kids. A washer and dryer are also in the basement for your use.
The cottage includes central air and heating. The kitchen has a gas range. A dishwasher, fridge with icemaker, microwave, coffee-maker, and toaster round out the kitchen. A basic set of pots and pans are available. There are enough place settings for 10 or more.
You also have use of a 16-foot canoe to explore the Chain of Lakes. Pontoons or speedboats are available for rent at one of the three marinas on the Chain.
Of course, just as you are looking for the ideal cottage, we are looking for the ideal renter.
Our ideal renter doesn’t smoke, brings no pets and gets along well with neighbors. Camp cottages are situated in a line along the lake spaced snuggly (about 8 feet apart) side to side. Our immediate neighbors are pleasant and quiet, we plan to respond in kind. Because of that we are looking for renters interested in enjoying the magic of the Chain O Lakes while keeping an acoustically restrained profile.

The camp was started as a temperance camp over 100 years ago, which is why open alcohol is not allowed on campgrounds. Its founders put down stakes on a gorgeous spot. Columbia Lake is the arch-typical Chain Lake with clear water and white lake bottom that makes the chain so beautiful. It’s large enough to be one of the four lakes on the chain allowing faster boats.
An added bonus of renting the cottage is the use of the Camps common areas. Camp Cleghorn’s community facilities are limited to camp residents and guests. They include; a swimming area (within 100 yards of the cottage); children’s playground; tennis court; and baseball diamond.
